Most LED display projects are customization. The sizes and resolutions are not standard. But all LED panels are standard sizes in 500x500 mm, 500x1000 mm, 640x480 mm, 960x480mm, 576x576mm, 640x640mm, 960x960 mm etc. That's why suppliers often ask customers if they can accept bigger or smaller sizes.

How to calculate the sizes and resolutions?

Let’s explain with an example.

Indoor wall fixed LED display, size is width 4m x height 2m (13.12ft x 6.56ft) and it is P2 model.

P2 means the pixel pitch is 2mm.

The theoretical calculation results are as follows:

4m is 4000mm. Then divide 4000 by 2. Here the resolution in width is 2000 pixels.

2m is 2000mm. Then divide 2000 by 2. Here the resolution in height is 1000 pixels.

Then the whole resolution is 2000x1000 pixels.

But the P2 LED panel is 960x480 mm or 640x480 mm. And 960x480 mm LED panel is the best for this project.

Then the actual calculation result is as follows:

There will be 4 pcs LED panel in width, so the width will be 960x4=3840 mm (12.6ft). Then the resolution in width is 1920 pixels (divide 3840 by 2).

There will be 4pcs LED panel in height, so the height will be 480x4=1920 mm (6.3ft). Then the resolution in height is 960 pixels (divide 1920 by 2).

Then the whole resolution will be 1920x960 pixels (It is close to 1920x1080 pixels).

Recommendation

Indoor smaller size projects, we recommend small pixel pitch models, P2, P1.86, P1.538 and P1.25. Smaller pixel pitch has higher resolutions in same screen size. Higher resolutions means clear pictures and videos.

Outdoor bigger size projects, we recommend big pixel pitch models, P10, P8, P6 and P5. Bigger pixel pitch has higher brightness.

In same resolution, smaller pixel pitch has smaller size, and bigger pixel pitch has bigger size.
